Ár dTiomantas chun Leanaí a Chosaint ó Dhíobháil

Tá CFGD tiomanta seirbhís ar ardchaighdeán a chur ar fáil a chuireann chun cinn dea-chleachtas agus a chruthaíonn timpeallacht shábháilte chun páistí agus daoine óga a chosaint ó dhíobháil. Cinntítear go bhfuil nósanna imeachta i bhfeidhm chun foireann/ceannairí/coistí agus an eagraíocht féin a chosaint ó líomhaintí féideartha.

Déanfar é seo trí na prionsabail seo a leanas:

  • Leas an linbh a bheith thar aon rud eile.
  • Tá gach duine freagrach as sábháilteacht agus cosaint leanaí.
  • Tá sé de cheart ag páistí go n-éistfear leo agus go dtabharfar aird ar a ndearcadh.
  • Ba cheart meas a léiriú do thuismitheoirí agus cúramóirí; ba chóir dul i gcomhairle leo agus iad a bheith páirteach i gceisteanna a bhaineann lena dteaghlach, ach amháin má chuireann sé an páiste i mbaol.
  • Ní ghlacfar le ball foirne ná deonach gan réamhscrúdú iomlán an Gharda Síochána.
  • Treoirlínte agus Cód Cleachtais um Chosaint Leanaí a chur ar fáil do cheannairí/múinteoirí agus foireann.
  • Traenáil leanúnach a chur ar fáil don fhoireann agus do cheannairí/múinteoirí ar pholasaithe na heagraíochta.
  • Eolas a roinnt leis na húdaráis chuí nuair is gá.
  • Cloí leis na nósanna imeachta maidir le hearcú agus roghnú foirne agus deonach.
  • Bainistiú éifeachtach ar fhoireann agus deonach trí thacaíocht, traenáil agus maoirseacht.
  • Athbhreithniú a dhéanamh ar an Ráiteas agus ar na Treoirlínte gach dara bliain, nó níos minice má tharlaíonn athruithe reachtaíochta nó polasaí.

Ní mór do Cheannairí/Múinteoirí:

  • Meas a léiriú do chách.
  • Úsáid a bhaint as teanga oiriúnach agus iad ag caint le páistí, daoine óga, tuismitheoirí agus múinteoirí eile.
  • A bheith ar an eolas faoi pholasaithe CFGD.
  • A bheith ina sampla maith: éisteacht, dea-iompar a spreagadh agus meas a léiriú.
  • Déileáil le bulaíocht i measc baill, ceannairí, tuismitheoirí agus cuairteoirí. Cinntiú go bhfuil gach páipéarachas clárúcháin agus árachais cothrom le dáta.
  • Caidreamh cothrom a bheith acu le baill.
  • A chinntiú go bhfuil aon teagmháil fhisiciúil le baill cuí agus i gcomhréir le polasaí cosanta leanaí.
  • Tuigbheáil agus cloí le polasaithe CFGD.
  • A thuiscint céard is rúndacht ann.
  • Rialacha a leanúint maidir le húsáid ríomhphoist, idirlín agus fón i dteagmháil le baill.

Níor chóir do Cheannairí/Múinteoirí:

  • Neamhaird a dhéanamh d’aon líomhaintí nó faisnéis a nochtar dóibh.
  • Gealltanas rúndachta a thabhairt.
  • Briogadh gnéasach nó cluichí fisiciúla garbha a dhéanamh le baill.
  • Teanga mhí-oiriúnach a úsáid ná a cheadú.
  • Iompar nó caint a dhéanamh a chuireann ball míshuaimhneach.
  • Rudaí pearsanta a dhéanamh do dhuine óg atá siad ábalta déanamh dóibh féin.
  • Páistí a thabhairt abhaile leo.
  • Grianghraif nó físeáin a thógáil gan chead.
  • Am iomarcach a chaitheamh i n-aonar le ball ar bith.
  • Ball a iompar sa charr leo i n-aonar, ach amháin i gcás éigeandála.

I ndiaidh aon eachtra ina bhféadfadh iompar ceannaire a bheith míthuiscintithe, ní mór dó/di tuairisc scríofa a thabhairt don Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe chomh luath agus is féidir.

Má tá imní ort go bhfuil páiste faoi mhí-úsáid fhisiciúil, ghnéasach, mhothúchánach nó faoi faillí:

  • Déan taifead ar na rudaí atá ag cur imní ort.
  • Labhair leis an Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe.
  • Déanfaidh an Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe teagmháil leis na húdaráis chuí más gá.

Is dualgas é tuairisciú – ní imscrúdú.

Má nochtann páiste mí-úsáid duit:

  • Lig don pháiste labhairt gan cur isteach.
  • Cuir in iúl dóibh go gcreideann tú iad agus nach bhfuil siad ciontach.
  • Ná déan breithiúnas agus ná geall rúndacht.
  • Inis dóibh go gcaithfidh tú an scéal a thuairisciú don Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe.
  • Déan taifead scríofa ar an méid a dúirt siad, ina bhfocail féin.
  • Inis don Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe chomh luath agus is féidir.
  • Má tá an páiste i mbaol, déan teagmháil láithreach le Seirbhísí Cosanta Leanaí nó na Gardaí.
  • Déan taifead ar na gníomhartha atá tógtha agat agus tabhair sin don Teagmhálaí Ainmnithe.

Má dhéantar líomhaintí ort féin nó ar cheannaire eile:

  • Déan taifead ar an méid a dúradh.
  • Cuir an scéal in iúl don OCL.
  • Déanfaidh an OCL teagmháil leis na húdaráis chuí.

Caithfear príobháideachas an pháiste a chosaint, mar sin coinnigh gach eolas rúnda agus ná roinn ach leis na húdaráis chuí agus na tuismitheoirí.

Cur i bhFeidhm agus Athbhreithniú

  • Tuigimid gur próiseas leanúnach é cur i bhfeidhm polasaí cosanta leanaí. Tá CFGD tiomanta don chur i bhfeidhm leanúnach ar an Ráiteas seo agus ar na polasaithe/nósanna imeachta a ghabhann leis.
  • Déanfar athbhreithniú gach dara bliain, nó níos luaithe má bhíonn gá.
  • Tá an Ráiteas ar fáil ar shuíomh gréasáin CFGD, ar taispeáint in Oifig CFGD, agus tugtha do bhaill foirne, oibrithe deonacha agus daoine ábhartha eile. Tá cóip ar fáil do thuismitheoirí/caomhnóirí ar iarratas. Tabharfar cóip do TUSLA más gá.

Our Commitment to Protecting Children from Harm

CFGD is committed to providing a high-quality service that promotes best practice and creates a safe environment to protect children and young people from harm. We will ensure that procedures are in place to protect staff/leaders/committees and the organisation from potential allegations.

This will be achieved through implementing the following principles within the organisation:

  • Ensuring that the welfare of the child is paramount.
  • Everyone is responsible for the safety and protection of children.
  • Children have the right to be listened to and to have their views taken seriously.
  • Parents and guardians should be respected, consulted, and involved in matters concerning their family, except where doing so would place the child at risk.
  • All staff and volunteers must undergo Garda Vetting.
  • Child Safeguarding Guidelines and a Code of Practice will be made available to leaders/teachers and staff.
  • Training will be provided for staff and leaders/teachers regarding the organisation’s policies.
  • Information will be shared with the appropriate authorities on a need-to-know basis.
  • Recruitment and selection of staff and volunteers will follow set procedures.
  • Staff and volunteers will be effectively managed through support, training, and supervision.
  • Our Child Safeguarding Statement and Policy and Guidelines will be reviewed every two years, or sooner if required due to changes in legislation or national policy.

Leaders/Teachers must:

  • Show respect for everyone.
  • Use appropriate language when speaking with young people, children, parents, and other leaders/teachers.
  • Be familiar with CFGD policies.
  • Act as good role models for members. They should listen, encourage good behaviour, and treat everyone with respect.
  • Address bullying among members, leaders, parents, and visitors. Ensure all registration and insurance paperwork is up to date.
  • Maintain fair relationships with members.
  • Ensure that any physical contact with members is appropriate and in line with child protection policy.
  • Understand and adhere to CFGD policy.
  • Understand what confidentiality means.
  • Follow rules regarding the use of email, internet, and phones when contacting members.

Leaders/Teachers must not:

  • Ignore allegations or disclosures.
  • Promise to keep secrets.
  • Engage in sexual innuendo or rough physical play with members.
  • Use or allow members to use inappropriate language.
  • Engage in behaviour or conversations that may cause discomfort or upset to a member.
  • Do for a young person what they can do for themselves.
  • Bring children home with them.
  • Take photos or videos without permission.
  • Spend excessive time alone with any member.
  • Transport a member alone in a car except in cases of emergency.

Following any incident where a leader feels their behaviour may have been misunderstood, the leader must provide a written report to the Designated Contact as soon as possible.

If you are concerned that a child is being physically, sexually, emotionally abused, or neglected:

  • Record the evidence of your concern.
  • Speak to the Designated Contact at CFGD.
  • If necessary, the Designated Contact will contact the appropriate authorities.

We hope such a situation never arises, but it is essential that everyone knows what to do if it does. If you have any concern regarding child protection, you must report it to the Designated Contact, and you are entitled to make a report to Tusla/the Gardaí if you are still concerned about child protection within CFGD.

Remember: You must report – not investigate.

If a child discloses to you that they are being abused:

  • Allow the child to speak without interruption.
  • Reassure the child that you believe what they are saying and that they are not to blame.
  • Do not make judgments and do not promise secrecy.
  • Say that you are there to support them but that you MUST report the matter to the Designated Contact.
  • Make a written record of what the child has said, in their own words.
  • Speak to the Designated Contact as soon as possible.
  • If the child is at immediate risk, contact Child Protection Services or the Gardaí immediately.
  • Record any actions taken and report them to the Designated Contact.

If allegations are made against another leader or against yourself:

  • Record what was said.
  • Inform the Designated Liaison Person (DLP).
  • The DLP will contact the appropriate authorities.

It is also essential to protect the privacy of the child; therefore, all information must be kept confidential and shared only with the Designated Officer/Authorities and the parents/guardians.

Implementation and Review

  • We understand that implementing the Child Safeguarding Policy is an ongoing process. CFGD is committed to implementing this Child Safeguarding Statement, along with the related policies and procedures, to support our commitment to keeping children and young people safe from harm while attending our services.
